Edwards Gardens Engagament | Lina + Ted

Linda & Ted have such a great story of how they met. It’s one of those stories you hear in movies and TV but rarely ever hear in real life. They met on a flight. Just two random people on a plane who happen to sit next to each other. Little did they know at that instant it would amount to this.

We did their engagement session at Edwards Gardens (Toronto Botanical Gardens). It’s a great place with countless bridges, river and great paths. I will be posting their wedding shortly so for now, I leave you with pictures.

Cottage Engagement Session | Rita + Adam

I’ve known Rita & Adam for a few years now. We met up at my cottage through a mutual friend and I can’t say enough about how great of a couple they are. One passion they share is the love for camping and canoeing. Every year I see them at the cottage with their canoe on the roof of their car so they can paddle around the lake together.

When it came time to discuss their engagement session the obvious choice was a trip to the cottage. This is the first engagement session I’ve done from a moving boat (while driving it) and can’t wait to do another engagement session up at the cottage next month.

Deer Creek Wedding | Lindsay + Justin

If you ask some of my brides and grooms, or even other photographers I have worked with they will tell you I can try and push boundaries when I photograph. I’ve asked brides to jump off cliffs into water (that were afraid of heights), shot in abandoned areas that are closed to the public, or climbed some pretty crazy things to get the shots I want. Linday & Justin’s wedding wasn’t so much pushing the ourselves but pushing the limits of where we could shoot.

Golf courses are beautiful to get married at. With perfectly trimmed grass, ponds, and nice landscaping for acres providing a great backdrop for photos. Unfortunately, we aren’t always able to take advantage of their beauty. Recently many courses have limited the use of their grounds for their weddings out of fear the bride will be struck by a stray ball (which would not be a good thing). Lindsay & Justin were OK with pushing our luck a bit and we were still able to capture a few images around the course (much to the dismay of the staff member who stalked us in his shiny red “official” golf cart.

To this I say thank you to Lindsay and Justin for breaking some rules and sorry to the official who I’m sure didn’t enjoy following us rule breakers around.

Caledon Estates Wedding | Aggie + Neil

I shoot wedding all across the GTA as well as internationally but it was nice to finally be able to shoot a wedding close to my home town of Bolton at the Caledon Estates. I was pleasantly surprised to find a forested area with clearings that the owners made just for photos as us photographers are always looking for shade and it’s not always the easiest thing to find on a sunny day.

Cullen Gardens Wedding | Diana + Jeremy

Cullen Gardens (also known as Cullen Central Park) is one of my favorite venues in the Durham Region. It has so many awesome places with the beautiful gardens and grounds for photos. The weather was perfect and it was a fun group to be with all day. Probably the most amount of kids I’ve ever seen at a wedding. I could have easily posted a whole blog on just the kids!

Rotary Park, Ajax Engagement | Diana + Jeremy

Diana and Jeremy’s wedding is coming up quick (less then 2 weeks) so we headed down to Rotary Park in Ajax which is right on the water for their engagement session.

I’m normally the one who asks my couples to push the normal when it comes to where to take images but when Diana suggested they climb the tree to take some pictures I was surprised but pretty happy

Brickworks Engagement Session | Anna Maria + Lakis

My first engagement session of the season. We kicked it off at Evergreen’s Brickworks which is just minutes from my home/studio. This was the first chance I’ve had to explore the premise even though it’s so close to me. It was a perfect spot for Anna Maria and Lakis who are getting married later this year.

The other day I went to Heather’s studio in Bowmanville to do some fun portraits. She acted as model while Dimitri and I took some shots. I’m not a huge studio shooter but I love using environmental areas like she has in her building.

Heather’s eyes are stunning.

I’ve noticed I have a lot of jumping shots in my portfolio and I even get the request for them all the time now. I wasn’t going to make an exception here.

Puerto Morelos Wedding & Trash The Dress | Linda & Jason

For this day after and trash the dress session I decided to take a different approach then I had done on previous trips. Linda & Jason let me take care of all the details and were OK with me only having a rough plan of what we would be doing that day.

Instead of taking a Taxi, I rented a car. I knew it couldn’t just be any car, we had to ride in style. So what better way to explore Mexico then a Jeep Wrangler. There is just something about a bride in a jeep with the top down that just screams photo op.

First stop, Puerto Morelos. A small fishing town 10 minutes from the resort.

Considering we saw hundreds of people (sometimes in the same vehicle) piled into the backs of cars, Jason thought it would be OK to be doing a little stand up driving down some side streets.

We drove for a while and came to a cenote. I’ve used cenotes in the past so I was looking forward to trying a new one. Once here I was a little excited about the cliff we found. I think Jason told the story best when we got back, but my eyes really lit up when I found out it was deep enough to jump from.

After changing dresses, Linda started chatting with a little girl that lived on the property.

My favorite shot of the week. Good thing the water was warmer then the pools at the resort.
